A Question:

So, um. Is it just me, or is Ultimatum TERRIBLE?

I mean, granted, I've never been a huge fan of the Ultimate universe period (except for a brief fondness for parts of Ultimate Fantastic Four and Ultimate X-Men) but...isn't going all scorched earth a bit much?

I might just be annoyed at the whole Magneto thing. Or the Cyclops thing. Or...

Then again, I'm still holding a grudge over that Blob and Wasp thing. "Tastes like chicken" indeed.

So yeah. I'm not a fan.

It's Loeb, doesn't that mean automatic fail these days?

Hm. Point. But I liked most of Fallen Son. So there is that.

Nope, not just you, Ultimatum was not only terrible but also (judging by the new #1s I jut read) completely and utterly pointless.

The massive death toll, the destruction of New York, NONE of it seems to have had an effect.

    Bleh, I say, bleh.

    Rant concludes. Peace out.

It's not just you. 4thLetter offers you an edited version that's a bit funnier, but the original... just...

Good luck on your return to the halls of academia.

Yes. Well, the first two issues were. I didn't bother with the rest.

Ultimate Fantastic Four Requiem was pretty good, though. A decent ending to the book (finally!) and (spoiler alert!) NOBODY ACTUALLY DIES. Well, nobody else. Needless to say, it was not written by Loeb.

Terrible, dreadful, horrible, grotesque - pick any synonym that means god-awful and I'll agree with you completely. I gave the first two issues of Ultimates V.3 glowing reviews because I thought he was writing a satire of "grim and gritty" comics. My horror when I realized he was being dead serious was very deep and painful.

Between Ultimatum and his painful Hulk run, I really do have to wonder what the hell is up with Loeb lately.
