Hoo boy.
This is...yeah. There really aren't words.
Actually there are lots of words, most of which aren't fit for polite company. The nicest of which being: "How the hell did he think that was an appropriate question?!"
Egads.

Hey Kalinara,
Would you be so kind as to summarize please. I tried the link but it hung up mid way thru loading. I'm not sure if it's because I'm on dial up or what.
Thank you.

Funnybook Babylon's got the offending quote here.
Essentially, in an interview with Paul Cornell about the British Muslim character Faisa, the interview actually asks "Did she join this team for reasons of her own? Is she on a jihad mission, going on an all-out holy war against...what?"
Yeah.
This is after Cornell's gone in depth to explain how he's trying to portray the life of an everyday British Muslim, who considers herself a British national and how he wanted to portray an "offhandedly everyday religious hero, to whom faith is not their entire existance" but comes up when it would come up naturally and describing her as the team's Kitty Pryde.
I simply can't understand the mindset behind asking that question. It was taken out but not after it was already published. Egads.

To be fair, rethinking it, I think it was an email interview, so the interviewer probably didn't see his explanation about Faisa before asking the question.
Still, I wish I could ask the guy what he was thinking.
And then slap him. Maybe the latter first.

Wouldn't it being an email interview makes it even worse tho? :o Cuz then it's like... you had time to lay out your questions and think about them. This wasn't an ad libbed thing that just popped into his mind. And he STILL thought it was a good idea!? :\
Like, then it means he made an assumption that he knew what the char was gonna be like (since he didn't hear the explanation) and that says something D:

True that. Either way, it's positively mind boggling!

The thing that completely flummoxes me is that out-of-left-field "Oh blimey! We're doomed!" at the very end. What the HELL.

I can only assume that the gentleman thought he was being funny. Because that was a completely inappropriate question. Especially since he asked it right after the author had explained himself. Is it me, or has Newsarama been going to the dogs lately?

Yeah, that's awful.
That said, I had no idea this series existed, and now I might give it a try. Because Paul Cornell "Human Nature/Family of Blood" is one of the best Doctor Who stories ever.
So, in conclusion, thanks for drawing it to my attention.

Joss Whedon: I've always admired Kitty Pryde as a character. Her feisty combination of charm, sweetness and intelligence stands out as unique, even in the varied field of superheroines. I am incredibly thrilled and honored to have the chance to write her adventures!
Newsarama: So, is Kitty only part of Astonishing X-Men to steal as much of Emma Frost's fortune as possible? And now that Colossus is back, how well is she dealing with her guilt over killing Jesus Christ?

Hey Kalinara,
Thanks for summarizing. Definitely whack.
And as for you K.D. Bryan? You owe me a new pair of pants since you made me pee in mine reading your little post. ;p
