This Is The Sound of My Brain Melting

For the record, I really want to slap whoever decided to stretch my finals period over three fucking weeks. I was relatively good humored about it before, but now it's getting damn tedious!

I really really want to read something mindless. Something preferably with no sense of chronological basis, i.e. that has humans and dinosaurs running about at the same time.

Ooo, maybe something involving people riding pterodactils. I've always liked pterodactils, though I admit, I've always assumed they were feathered. I have no actual basis for this belief except for how most people's illustrations look like plucked chickens to me.

Explosions are good too, or at the very least people getting impaled on pointy metal things. I can deal with that. Bonus points if the pterodactils eat someone. (Totally makes up for the plucked-chicken thing if it eats someone.)

I have no idea if Pterodactils CAN eat a live human, but I totally don't care. It's not like this is a terribly realistic scenario to start with.

Oh well, back to work.

    Hi

I'm not sure if you know about the scene that appears after the credits in the Iron Man film. Paramounts cracking down on the youtube clips unfortunately, but it should be available.

It introduces a character to the Marvel movie universe that should make you quite happy.

Ami: Heh, I plan to. Or at least, I plan to sleep. :-)

Jade: It'll be a while before I get a chance to see it, but thanks for telling me. I hate missing nifty things like that. :-)

    Hi Kalinara,
I feel your pain, Friend! On Saturday, Mr. Reads and I went to see Iron Man because I had, in my estimation, "Brain Melty." This is the second time we've rescued me from "Brain Melty" after intense writing on a major text. This time was my dissertation; last time it was my Master's Thesis. Soon-To-Be-Mr. Reads and I went to see X-Men (that's the first one) and I was so damaged mentally from my exhaustion and writing 18 hours a day schedule that I apparently walked out of the theater saying, "Smash! Bash! I'm Wolverina!" while snikt snikt-ing invisible claws.
So seeing Something Great is as good as reading Something Mindless :)
    Good luck with your finals!
    Ciao,
    Amy

Three weeks eh? That's torture. Cruel and inhuman even.

I actaully think that Pterasaurs mostly ate fish. But I'd like to think that a roasted one tastes like chicken.

If you haven't read the Suicide Squad mini-series yet, I can tell you it does feature battles with dinos in early issues. Obviously not really a mindless series, but there's a lot of good action and I think the artwork is really easy to follow.

You could rent the movie Fire & Ice. Frazetta + Ralph Bakshi = dinosaurs and scantily clad barbarians. Its just weird...

I hope you don't mind me spoiling it for you then.

    Its Fury!

    Played by Samuel L Jackson!

And they're talking about an Avenger movie in 2011 :)

I'm hoping he and SHEILD make an appearance in the hulk film :)

Try finding copies of "Turok, Dinosaur Hunter", or "Turok, Son of Stone", or Cadilliacs and Dinosaurs.

    Hi Kalinara,
Oh! And "Aztec Rex" is on the Sci Fi channel sometime this week.
I know that We Reads are DVRing it.
    Ciao,
Amy, who loves bad horror movies

My suggestion is the Showcase Presents: The War That Time Forget collection, it's got dinosaurs, explosions, stilted dialogue...almost guaranteed to raise your spirits! :-)
