May well have lost mind.

Ok, I can understand looking for "Galaxy Rangers", because frankly, they are awesome. I can even live with "She-Ra". But Capt. Planet?
Oh Kalinara.

In God's name.....WHY? Sure, the character was designed by Neal Adams...but so was "Skateman".
You've got explaining to do, young lady!

Y'know, I really feel like I can't say anything since I still dig Power Rangers. Still, no one ever tried to pass Power Rangers off as educational.
If it's one episode, I can see it. But if it's the whole series... Um.
I spent my college-commuting mornings watching this (it's officially a guilty pleasure), and wait till the overseas animation studios change. It's just so different in style it's jarring.

I don't know about the others, but every time I watched it, I'd see places where it could be so much better yet still teach its lessons. So in my case, I wanted it to be better on the entertainment end because it wouldn't take much.
That, and Cap himself was a dork.

Find "A Formula for Hate." It's surreal.
Sorry about the deleted comment. It would have had you looking for a Bad Religion song instead of a Captain Planet episode.

I always felt bad for the kid who got stuck with the Heart powers. Everyone else got to do really cool stuff, and he got to make people play nicely. He definitely got the crap end of that stick.

Heart actually is an awesome power if you think about it. They never used it to full potential in the show because of the aim the show had, but just imagine the power over someone's feelings.
Imagine someone with a not-so-pure heart having that power...
Also, he was the only kid lucky enough to have a sidekick. A *monkey* sidekick. Too bad it wasn't trained to pick pockets while Captain Planet flew around like a spray painted manaquin

I was always kind of bothered by the fact that the other kids were random Magical [insert ethincity] here, but the American kid, the one with some semblance of personality, was continually portrayed as a selfish jerk. I'm not sure that was sending the message they intended.

They established that the power of Heart was Mind Control. Of course, because Ma-Ti doesn't have the stones to use it, the most you ever get out of his power was once in an alternate future he's a begger, using the ring to change people's minds when they won't give him spare change.

If you still feel the urge to watch Captain Planet (and man, do I know that desire: being compelled to watch things you know will suck) you can find some episodes online here:

Always glad to help a fellow Guy Gardner fan :)
