I have a dirty, dirty mind...
See, when I first saw this cover:
My brain went to wrong wrong places.
Places that involve intricate Japanese bondage (or "Shibari"). Here's a picture for comparison. (WARNING: That photo, while a staged, "art-y" sort of photo, is still of a tied up, naked woman. Thus if you're underaged or bothered by that sort of thing, or likely to get in trouble...please don't click.)
Anyway, the resemblance is a little striking. Especially since poor Sand...is only tied up by the arms. The rest is all his *normal costume*.
Sheesh, I thought Kyle's dog collar was "advertising"... :-)
(The above photo was actually taken from this photographer's website, I merely re-uploaded it for my own use.)

Usually bondage rubs me the wrong way - just don't like it honestly. However that pic doesn't bother me at all, probably becuase it does have an artsy element to it.
I see what you mean about sand and where your mind went. Never thought about that before, but once again you corrupt my mind in a way I never thought possible. Can't look at him the same way next time I read something he's in...thanks.

If any culture would have a poetic name for getting one's rocks off by tying people up, it would be the Japanese. It's stuff like this (and the truly disturbing school girl fetish) that have completely put me off anime.

Cent: you're welcome
Hale: I guess we all have our opinions. I can't lie and say I don't get the appeal...after all I *do* enjoy Sand's costume, and the comparison's there.
It's not really fair to paint all anime/manga with the same brush though. There's lots of stuff without the school girl fetish or Shibari bondage out there. :-) But I *can* see why it'd be off putting.
(Though personally the school-girl thing bothers me a little more than the shibari...I mean, if it's consentual and among adults, who'm I to judge?)

I read about this comic and it seems great but I think that the villain is like "Magneto" It made me feel a little bit disappointed at the end.
