A question:
Something I've always seen asked around comic blogs and fan sites is "if you could have any power, what would it be?"
I always thought the more interesting question is "if you could have a superpower, what would you NOT want?" (And for the sake of fun, I'll avoid obvious suck powers like Cyclops's or Rogue's).
For me, I think it'd be telepathy. I don't want to know what people think. At all. It's bad enough sometimes to know what I think. My brain is a scary place, man. Related to that? Wonder Woman's lasso? NO. I do NOT want to know. Some truths are better left unlassoed. Besides, I'm a nosy meddler. I'd totally abuse the shit out of that power.
So what about you?

I think mine would be invisibility. Yeah, Sue Storm makes it work (though hers comes with Force Fields as well), but I honestly can't come up with a use for invisibility which wouldn't either isolate me more from the world, or be incredibly creepy.

I probably couldn't deal with anything destructive right now, like Wither or Threnody, because OMG, I've been reading too many apocalyptic books and I keep thinking, "If we just diminish the population..." I wouldn't want a telepath reading MY thoughts of late, either.

I would rather not have telekinesis. Honestly, I get too little exercise as it is. If I could just sit in one place and mentally command whatever I wanted to come within reach...? Ugh.

I wouldn't like having my head on fire, so being Firestorm or Johnny Storm would be out. Being the Hulk or Metamorpho would also probably really suck.

I wouldn't want regeneration as a power, because it's like invulnerability only without ANY of the resistance to pain that invulnerability implies.

Empathy. Especially the kind like Raven's where you take away others' injuries and pains and make them your own.
First of all, if someone in your immediate vicinity so much as gets a hangnail, you're feeling it, too.
Even worse, every time one of your idiot teammates makes a stupid mistake and gets mortally wounded, guess who the go-to person always is? That would get old really fast.

i wouldn't want to be invisable. it would be really lonely. I also wouldn;t want wolverine's bone claws. they'd be painful and besides, i don't want to gut anyone.

While flight would be cool, there would be some drawbacks.
Bugs, birds hitting your face, wind resistance, etc. Plus, would you have to file a flight plan?
