Costuming
Okay, maybe I'm just blinded by the horrible hooker makeup on those poor models, but I honestly think these amecomi costumes are fucking hideous.
Except maybe the Wonder Woman one. I kind of like the flowy skirt thing and the headdress.
(And I do appreciate that the Supergirl one is actually fairly accurate to the comics. But I've always hated that version of the costume.)
I would kill to see someone pull off a Star Sapphire (comic version) variant. I think a cosplayer did it once, but I don't recall. Anyway, I'd be interested in any account of how the model got the damn thing to stay up.

i wish i could remember the young lady's name/website, because she had a fantastic write-up on how she made the costume.

RE: costumes staying up
Double sided tape, plus there is a brand of paste designed to prevent clothes from falling/riding up

I saw a LOT of the Ame-Comi statues while I was working at the comic book store. I'm not a big fan of most of them; by and large, the costumes are impractical, pandering, and frankly, more than a little embarassing.
...that's actually why they work as Halloween-and-Party costumes. They're immediately recognizable as the characters, but they have a far better design sense than the "Sexy Supergirl/Sexy Batgirl/Sexy Robin" costumes we've been seeing over the last few years. Only comic book fans will notice or care that they aren't the versions you see in the comics.
I have to say, though, that the Wonder woman costume is not only an exception -- it's one of my favorite Wonder Woman costumes. It's one of the few that takes the post-Perez "it's really Greek armor" and convinces me.
And it actually works pretty decently as a real-world costume, it seems. Better by far than any other store-bought Wonder Woman costume, that's for sure.
The high-heeled platform shoes, though -- [facepalm].

Last Free Comic Book Day, the store I frequent had a bunch of costumed people, including a well-pulled off Star Sapphire. I have no pictures, but it was on the level of the one posted above.

I'd buy and wear the WW one. I really like it. I tried to get that Ame Comi WW statue but dithered for too long and it was sold out. they they introduced the horrible skimpy one and my blood curdled a little.

oh, and with that Star Sapphire costume she's got clear tape running between the bra bits holding it together, and a cross shape over her torso that holds it on.
Seeing that costume cosplayed made me respect the comic version a bit more - now I pretend the sapphire have the same clear tape holding their costume up.
