Odd thought

You ever wonder about weird talents comic book characters might have? You know, the stuff that doesn't tend to come up in an action type story.

Like, who do you think can knit? Ballroom dance? Cook, Gourmet style? Sing opera? Play piano?

Who makes balloon animals? Plays hacky sack (do people still play hacky sack anymore?)

Needlepoint?

For example, for no reason what so ever, I always thought Guy Gardner could make a mean quiche. And Hal Jordan totally learned how to knit to impress some girl.

Got any suggestions?

Batman has probably taught himself how to do all of those things. You never know when the ability to knit might mean the difference between life and death. :D

According to Nick Spencer's recent JIMMY OLSEN backup, Supergirl likes to knit.

Knitting is the one thing Dr. Doom doesn't do. He finds it tedious. (He said so in an issue of Excalibur.)

I actually wish more writers would bother to give their characters hobbies. Even if it never lead to a Green Lantern All-Knitting Special, it'd still be nice for general characterization...

Beast totally sings opera, cause he's a cultured guy. Xavier probably plays chess and cheats by reading his opponents mind. Didn't he and Magneto play chess in the movies?
Doom might be a chess player too.
    Iceman makes ice sculptures.

For awhile I've believed that Alex Summers is an awesome scrabble player and whenever they play he beats Scott, I also think he is really good at crossword puzzles.

I think you made a meme of this once.

I imagine the She-Hulk watches all those LAW & ORDER shows and riffs them.

Sewing is considered a survival skill, so I would think Batman would know how.

Everything that Hal does that doesn't involve Green Lanterning is done to impress a girl! And then he drops it, because seriously, the man has no home life at all.

John on the other hand CAN play piano. And he is probably has a rather nice bass singing voice.

Kyle is the creative one of course, but I usually assume that he's a pretty terrible cook for some reason. I see him gobbling junk food with one hand, while drawing with the other.

Guy is the one who is actually good at doing stuff. Of course he makes a good quiche. And a good bloody steak, and probably really really fabulous brownies. And he likes creme brulee because he gets to use a torch...seriously what man could resist that?

Well, we know that both the Golden Age Jim Corrigan and Peter Parker can sew, because they both made their own costumes. We saw Corrigan stitch his together at the end of the first Spectre story!

Alan Scott, though, just went through the donation bins at the local thrift shop for his outfit.

On a more speculative note, I think that Tim Drake plays the harmonica.

Dick Grayson can play the accordion. And sing. Well enough to be on the radio.

It's on page 176 of the Robin Archives

I always thought Cassandra Cain would be a good dancer. If she can learn how to use fighting sticks in the space of a week she can probably pick up new dance moves really fast.

For some reason when you mentioned balloon animals I immediately thought of Wonder Woman.

Aquaman plays the jug. Mera really likes clowns.

Superman strikes me as a model train set enthusiast.

I think Steph Brown knits and I think Cassie Sandsmark has bonsai trees.

Supergirl paints, we've seen her do some art in her own title. I reckon Kara has tried a lot of creative things but I don't think she sticks to one thing. I think she's more of a scientist and does little chemistry experiemtns at home. Or possibly photography.

Rose Wilson watches bad tv, like action shows, and mocks them.

Raven reads. Probably the classics, like Austen and Dickens.

Olllie drinks beer and argues with people. Dinah is a gardener. Mia listens to lots of rock music, goes to gigs and hangs out with friends.

    This is fun!
