Cap + Wall = Trouble!

You know, until I started heavily reading a lot of Avengers issues, I'd never realize how utterly dysfunctional that group is/was. I mean, take Hank Pym, alone, it took how many decades of real time before he ended up getting psychiatric help?

Seriously, the dude probably warranted an intervention of some sort somewhere along that time he built killer robots to attack them, if nothing else. They just seem to be not as concerned over that sort of thing than I would be.

I mean, check out this panel from Avengers #9.

Okay, here we go. And that's no mind-control or nothing. Just Cap. Angry. And fighting a WALL.

Now, I'm not saying this couldn't happen to Batman, but I do think the Justice League would be a trifle more concerned if one of their members had started screaming and attacking things like walls.

These guys, nothing. Nada. Zip. Cap attacks a WALL one panel, and no one even bothers to suggest catching up on sleep. They are PERFECTLY FINE with one of their most prominent members flipping out crazy.

Poor Hank then never had a prayer.

When I read the subject heading, I thought I missed a crossover pitting Captain America against Amanda Waller from DC's Suicide Squad.

But that would be silly...because Cap wouldn't stand a chance.

Well, that's probably true as he did just lose against a wall...

Heh heh. Funny, I thought the same thing. And reached the same conclusion. I mean Cap is pretty tough and all, but there is NO way he'd survive a meeting with Amanda Waller.

But getting back to the premise here, ALL the Avengers were apparently nutty as a fruitcake as far as I can tell. Janet wasn't wrapped too tight from the get-go since all she did was scheme about how to marry Hank who was SERIOUSLY disturbed. Wanda spent all her time being ordered around by Pietro and quietly losing her mind.

Tony was ALWAYS a dick, and even Thor had his moments. Frankly the one sane one amongst them was Jarvis.

    I love Jarvis.

SallyP: I agree- everyone in the early Stan Lee Avengers was really, REALLY keyed up. It's funny to contrast the backups in Avengers Classic with the original stories.

Waller would turn Cap into a fine paste in less than thirty seconds.

Hey Kalinara, have you gotten a look at The Invaders Classic Vol. 1 yet? There's some Bucky focused stories you might enjoy in there.

Cap v. Waller would be difficult to call. Mostly it would depend on the circumstances. I mean if Cap can deal with Henry Gyrich as Avengers liason for all those years, he can cope with Amanda "Terrible Mom" Waller. But while Waller was always able to outplot Bats and ignore his intimidation, Cap operates in an entirely different way. Of course nowadays Waller would have a minion blow up a building while fighting Cap and then he'd quit...

The reason that the JLA might be more concerned about Batman fighting a wall tho is that if that was Batman, the wall would be pwnd before they could react XD And if it wasn't, then it'd be obvious that something's wrong with Batman.
