Guy is Sekritly Smushy!
Yay! Solicits!
I'm most interested in the Green Lantern Corps and the Sinestro Special this time around (Shock, I'm sure!). Mostly as I love Mogo.
The Sinestro solicit though makes me laugh for this one part:
Hal Jordan has struggled to regain his reputation. Kyle Rayner has suffered great personal loss and reluctantly gained great power. Guy Gardner's trust in the Guardians is wavering. John Stewart's unbreakable loyalty soon will be tested. Together, these four men are the Green Lanterns of Earth…but why are so many Earthmen recruited into the Corps? What is their ultimate rolel in the future of the universe? And how will the secret of the rings’ power threaten the Guardians and affect Hal Jordan's future?
Oh, Guy, honey. Your trust in the Guardians is wavering? Do you mean the Guardians who left you in a coma for years because you were only an alternate and not a real Green Lantern? The ones that woke you up, finally, because some subset wanted a more aggressive group but left you crazy and brain-warped because you were too hesitant with your sanity intact?
The ones that let Hal take your ring in the most undignified manner after and only bothered to pop in when their golden boy went freaking crazy to hand you the last ring because they needed someone fast and their next option was some drunken artist in an alley? And then, even though they're telepaths, they let you take the blame for your Cyborg Superman fight/Old-School Green Lantern rescue adventure and get stuck guarding Emo-Boy Prime for a month?
And your trust is just NOW wavering?
Beneath that crusty, cranky, over-testosteroned exterior, you really are all smushy aren't you? Aww.

It's all those blows to the head from the JLE days. Left quite a bit mushy, I imagine. ;)

You know, all things considered, Guy does have to put up with a lot. Yes, he's First in the Honor Guard. Big Whoop. That apparently means that Salakk gets to work him half to death, sending him out on every cockamamie mission that he can think of.
And he doesn't even have Kyle to play with anymore, poor baby.
Meanwhile, John got to pretend to be a badass bounty-hunter. That sounds like a lot more fun than Hal has had recently. John even got to kick Hal in the head! That's GOT to be satisfying. Guy hasn't been able to kick anybody in the head recently, and it must be annoying.
It's nice that they get those fun little green rings, but really, they have to put up with a LOT in return.

See, I never got the impression that Guy Gardner had unshakeable trust in the Guardians. His constant pushing of the envelope suggests more of a wariness (or even contempt) that he's always held toward his Smurfy bossmen.
Sorry. Not buying it at all, DC.

Well actually I think it makes perfect sense, but you have to understand Guy's version of "trust". If he "trusts" you then he ignores you while he goes forth and does what he damn well pleases. If he doesn't "trust" you then he pounds your ass into a thin paste suitable for hanging wall paper. So if I were the Guardians I would be very hesitant to lose Guys "trust".
Peace
And
Long
Life

starman: Vuldarian regeneration! :-)
sallyp: Yep! And no one realizes how much he actually puts up with through the complaining. He gets no respect. :-)
mark: it does make sense if you consider his interactions with Hal. He pokes at him, taunts him, annoys and insults him, but even Hal admits he was the first to forgive the Parallax incident. (Well, after Kyle who didn't know Hal pre-Parallax and thus didn't have the betrayal element)
Guy might mouth off to the Guardians, but he trusts them to be the Guardians really. So this wavering trust thing is quite a big deal.
toriach: Got it in one!

Wait, Guy trusts the Guardians? On what earth? Guy doesn't believe in them. He believes in being damn good at his job.
Speaking of Guy related characters, anyone see the new Birds of Prey? HOLY CRAP!
