Why It Pays to Check My Blogroll...

Okay, apparently JD over at Lex Luthor is Pleased knows things that I don't.

Because he's got a future Teen Titans cover I've never seen anywhere else. (I think this counts as requiring a SERIOUS SPOILER WARNING. SERIOUS.)

I don't know where he found it, but if it's real, that's pretty damn big news.

Okay, now those of you who've looked, I'm going to respond with my speculation/reactions below. Those of you who don't want to know, go read a different entry now. The Supergirl one maybe. Or look at She-Hulk fighting the Gator.

Go Away.

All right. Key attraction is Miss Martian. Yeah, she's cute. Anime-esque. Which works for me, J'onn did once disguise as a female reporter named Hino Rei. (The civilian identity for fire-wielding Sailor Mars from Sailor Moon.) Maybe Martians like Anime.

A teenage Martian Manhunter counterpart is an awesome idea. A teenage girl is even better.

But that's kind of avoiding the point, isn't it?

Because in the upper corner, that certainly *looks* like a bald Conner Kent with an L slashed through the S.

Whoo boy.

I always thought there were a lot of parallels between Conner's death and Clark's in Death of Superman. Maybe there are a few more parallels after all?

And is that Jericho?!

Okay, I'm confused now. But it occurs to me...we have Kon, Jericho, Terra on a cover...what do these three characters have in common?

She could be K'im. You know. J'onn's daughter? I mean...sure she's dead...

But this Martian girl is on a cover with Kon, Jericho and Terra...

Okay, honestly, I have *no* idea what's going on here. But I know I'm going to be buying this damn comic. :-)

This looks very real. If it is, Geoff Johns has managed to obtain my three dollars as well. For the time being.

    *nod* This should be *interesting*.

Well, we've seen Martian Girl already make a cameo so I assume it is indeed real.

Miss Martian sure looks cool. Consider my three bucks spoken for now.

What I'm curious about is this - why is she standing with a montage of evil Titans?

    keeper: Cool!

anthony: Aw. Aquagirl'd be neat though.

mela: There's another good question. I only focused on the 'dead' part. But they are or have been evil as well, haven't they?

    Neat!

Miss Martian looks an awful lot like a character I came up with; a teenaged martian girl with green skin and shortish red hair. They probably have different personalities; mine's a total nerd in civilian clothing, who's the descendant of a notorious immortal space pirate. Oh well, there's another minor character I'm going to have to scrap (or at least change considerably) because somebody else used it first.

Sorry for the non-sequitur, I just hate it when this sort of thing happens.

Aww, I wouldn't worry about it. There're always going to be characters that look similar everywhere.

It's not like green skin and red hair is terribly unique for an alien character anyway.

I'd just worry about making your character as strongly defined a personality as possible in as well-crafted a story as you can. Then the surface similarities don't matter.

Look at Tim Hunter and Harry Potter. They're dark haired, bespectacled boy wizards, but I can't really imagine mistaking Books of Magic ever for Harry Potter.

Of course, if she's to be a DC character, you might have more of a problem. :-)

It doesn't look real to me at all, unless DC has somewhat relaxed its cover standards. It looks like someone that a fairly talented (but not pro-level) artist drew up on his computer.

That said, there's no way they can bring back Bulked Up, Evil and Talking (my nickname for Jericho - just do a Google Groups search on that term on rec.arts.comics and you'll see me all over it). They screwed that pooch but good.

Disclaimer: The above is pure speculation and not based on any inside knowledge. I know I need to say that more often since my husband freelances for DC.

It's real. Geoff Johns posted it himself on Comic Bloc.

elayne: Heh, I find it hard to imagine as well. :-) Jericho seems pretty gone. Maybe it'll be a flashback or past reference...he, Conner, and Terra do seem a bit fainter than the others.

    Gosh this speculation's fun. :-)

anon: Goodness! I have to start keeping better track of the Comic Bloc forums, don't I? :-) I'm missing all the good stuff!

It's not just that they are all evil (and soon to die), they are all presented IN THE ACT of betraying the team. Notice Raven has a red face and her father's eyes, and Conner has his father's hair.

Or you know Martian Girl could just be impersonating them.

Since she can pretty much duplicate all the powers any way if she really is a martian.

I don't see what's there to guess about; this cover clearly says Miss Martian = Titan gone bad

Five bucks says she was a Titan during the 52 year who turned traitor and is now the Other Martian in the sure-to-be easily understood and logical AJ Lieberman Martian Manhunter.

Disclaimer: I more than likely do not have five dollars.

    steven: Does seem that way!

    mallet: Could be!

anon: That does seem the easiest explanation! :-)

jon: Hmm, that could be fun! Either way, I can't wait to see.

(I don't have five dollars either)

    Hey Y'all,

The blog in question is mine. I just started getting into the whole blogging thing about 5 weeks ago, so bear with me. I pulled it off some comic site last night when I posted it.

I was wore out from helping my mom move some of her furniture to her new house, so I did not catch the name of which one it was, sorry all. But it is not anything that I have worked up.

Also, She is never referred to as Miss Martian, so I could be way off base here, but from hints in TT and the cameo in this last TT issue & the cover, I felt that it was probably who they were speaking of.

Also, My theory (because of this TT issue) is that she is actually a white martian, because of what she says to the inert Cyborg.

Although, I would love it if she is actually Jonn's daughter. That would be cool.

P.S. Thanks for the add to the blogroll, Kalinara. I like to read you blog, too.

Whelp, another potentially fascinating comic book that I'll likely completely forget about once I actually get to the shop...I really should compile a list.

But if this new character does turn out to be J'Onn's daughter, that would indeed be all kinds of cool.

Miss Martian... eh. Doesn't do it for me. What does is the Superboy return as someone who certainly didn't get enough screen time in Infinite Crisis and the roster looking a little like 'The Dead Teen Titans'.

    That'll be $3.22 with CA tax. =)

All the Titans in the background have either died or are dead.

    Maybe it is J'onnz daughter.
