A Favorite Cover:

You know what comic book cover I really really like?

Cable #6.

favorite cover

I admit, I don't have a lot of interest in Cable's Lone Wolf and Cub storyline (though the art is really neat. I'm hoping there'll be a TPB and I can catch up that way.) But I totally bought this comic from the recent-back-issue rack JUST for that cover.

It's so pretty! And I am very amused by how Cable's literally twice Cyclops's size. And the baby. The baby is very cute.

I just really really like this cover. :-)

    Ooh. It's very striking.

I don't read a lot of Cable, even when he's in other books--or maybe because he isn't always in other books? How does he deal with his bio-dad most of the time anyway? I know Rachel acts like a teenager--typical overreaction, basically--but what about Cable?

I think it depends on which Cable is involved, really. :-P

In the issues I've read (admittedly, there's many I haven't yet) they seem to have an awkward sort of tense camaraderie.

Though Cable definitely had some teenager moments, especially in the issue just before Scott and Jean's wedding. (Uncanny 310, I think, though I may be wrong about that.) Which was a bit horrifying, as he's gigantic and almost fifty. :-P

It probably helps the relationship a bit seeing that Scott and Jean DID actually spend 13 years bodyswapped in an apocalyptic future raising him. (Actually, the issue where they finally tell him about that is pretty hilarious.) So the abandonment issues are a bit less prominent after the wedding/honeymoon. :-)

Stryfe's still pretty pissed though, as I recall. :-)

(I am way overfond of the emoticon. Heh.)

BTW: this issue sadly did not have awkward father-son interaction as they are in different time periods.

It did however have Cyclops being over-protective, anxious and machiavellian while wearing a Dazzler t-shirt.

I did not regret this purchase.

It's a decent enough composition though I have to wonder what happened to Scott's neck?
(or is this merely a way of showing the squat-neck/no-neck trait being passed down?)

    PS I'm enjoying the blog!

It's an interesting cover. Am I odd, for noticing that Scott and Cable have the same lips?

For some reason, this pleases me, since otherwise, they really don't look much alike.

Their jawline looks a bit similar to me too.

But yeah, there isn't much resemblance. (I theorize though that if Jean were turned into a man temporarily, she'd be gigantic. Because Cable certainly didn't get his size from the Summers clan.)
