Reason #336 Why Sandy Is Cool:

Because Sandy deserves more appreciation:

Many heroes get temporarily blinded and spend a few panels angsting about it and frantically trying to regroup before getting their asses in gear. Not this kid!

Way to go, das Fleidermaus. You got your ass kicked by a blinded twelve year old because you didn't shut the hell up. You suck.

Du bist einen Vollidiot.

The real Fleidermaus would never stand for that treatment.

He would run away and get The Tick to beat Sandy up!

Speaking of... what'd you think about The Tick live action series? I picked up the boxed set (only 13 eps!) a year or two ago and it was pretty funny. They couldn't get the rights to the characters from the toon, or something, though, so they brought in Bat-Manuel instead of Fleidermaus.

A...a sidekick with brains? Is this in the rule book? No wonder this kid is running the JSA!

That's some weird panel laying-outery, right there.

Not bad or anything, just unusual.

Holy crap, this is from one of the early issues of Young All-Stars, one that I actaully have somewhere. My uncle gave me a few issues back in 1994 along with some AD&D comics and they were the first comics I ever had. I remember that Sandy was a real jerk in this storyline and was acting all racist against Tsunami because she was Japanese but he got over it and apologized later.

This story had a group of Nazi/Axis badguys that was way cooler than the one that just showed up in JSA - AXIS AMERIKA! (although Da Fleidermaus was nothing but a useless tool.) I didn't catch it at the time what with being comics-ignorant, but they were all analogues to JLA members.

One of the things that actually disappointed me about these new Nazis in JSA 3 was that they didn't feature the awesome villainy of Ubermensch, Baron Blitzkrieg, or Gudra the evil valkyrie. Although Baroness Blitzkrieg might be related to the Baron, even if she doesn't have the spiffy gold Iron-Man helmet.

Thanks for bringing up memories of my first exposure to superhero comics! :) Now I'm off to go find those old issues!
