Things I've Learned From Comics, #452:

If you're going to tell a cute, tiny, slightly demented little sidekick he can't come along to save the city, while you're in a flying car situated about a foot away from the rooftop he's standing on, many many stories above the ground...

Make sure you've rolled up the passenger side window first.

(From JSA Returns: "A Terrifying Hour", because little Sandy Hawkins doesn't take no for an answer.)

JSA returns was fun, if only for the part where Mid-Nite's owl...like...OD's (on Miraclo, if I remember correctly)

A flying car in the 40s?

Why didn't he capitalize on it so we can have flying cars in the 21st century like all those serials back then...

gus: Hee, yes. I personally liked this issue best for a number of reasons.

    1. This leap into the flying car
    2. sidekick emphasis
    3. Sandy getting snarky when the giant bad guy shows up
    4. Normal sized crazy guy tossing Sandy out of the some-odd-story window.
    5. The awful awful evil hints/reminders to Sandy turning monster later:

(paraphrased) "To suddenly become a monster...I can't imagine what that's like..."

"the silicoid gun you told me about? Neat!"

    It's just wrong! :-)

    6. The first Star Spangled Kid is still an ass.
    7. Pat Dugan's always awesome.

    Heh.

Centurion: Don't blame Pat. He's just the driver/mechanic. It's probably Sylvester (the Star Spangled Kid)'s fault. He always was an ass. :-P
