National Delurking Week

Okay. So according to Ragnell, it's National Delurking Week.

I don't have a pretty graphic, but go see hers. It's neat!

Anyway, um, so that's it really. If you're a regular reader of my blog, please say hi! And maybe something about yourself! That'd be cool.

Or not. If you don't want to. :-) No pressure. But it'd be nice to "meet" you!

So yeah. Um. That's it really. :-) Carry on!

Hullo! I'm not the member of any teams. It's probably because I don't have a costume.

    I need a costume.

I'm only posting because I want to protest the fact that Ununnilium isn't wearing any pants.

Where are the "Online Pants" police? Why aren't they doing what we pay them for?

Also, uh, I read your blog but I don't actually lurk.

I'm Will or Wolfie. I've delurked a year after I started reading blogs. 2006. I'm pretty shy, so I overcompensate by being brash. Since I'm anonymous, I usually sign off as WM (if I remember). Big fan of you and Ragnell's (although she's been serious lately with the gender issues). Still enjoyable.
By the way, what does "teh" mean? I've just worked up the courage to ask.

Howdies. I've linked your posts a few times here and there, and talked to you on AIM that one time, but I can't remember if I've actually ever commented here, so I guess that I might actually technically be a lurker.

    I mean, until now.

  • At January 11, 2007 3:08 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

Thanks, Jeff. But why is it used in the context to really emphasize something (e.g. teh funny)?

Wow! I was worried no one would respond! Hi everyone!

azrael: If you have to ask, you clearly don't read my blog enough. :-) I am the maniacal villain.

    My proof? Planet porn. :-)

WM: teh indeed means "the". It's kind of a simultaneous parody of l33t speak (which you may notice I do on occasion because it makes me laugh) and typos people make when they're typing too fast.

I just use it because it makes me giggle. :-)

And to everyone: I much appreciate your pants! Except Ununnilium! I appreciate your lack of pants! Welcome!

Sooo, Hi :) I just promised Ragnell (after de-lurking myself to her) that I would gallantly stride your way to do the same. I have read your blog for quite some time now and really do enjoy it. As I said to Ragnell, you have also opened my eyes to new ideas and i just wanted to thank you for that in my first comment to you. I'll try to comment from time to time now :)

Hi, my name is Loren (Hi, Loren!). Um...long time reader and I'm here to say "hi." I'm a Capricorn and born in a year heralded by the Earth Monkey. I love the word "wheat" and have musical turrets. I will not respond when called "Lawrence," but I will respond if you call me "Warren." I actually DO like walks on the beach. Oh, and my dalmatian is named after the mom on Family Ties.

Hi, I'm officially de-lurking now, even though I think I might have posted once here before. Just wanted to say how utterly awesome I think your blog is. I've been reading it since summer along with WFA and Ragnell's blog. I don't know whose I enjoy more, although yours is definitely more colorful. ;)

Delurking week, huh? Man, there's so many blogs I read regularly, but never post in.

I'm going to be a busy boy. Glad this is a whole week.

I've commented on this fine blog once or twice before.

Okay thats enough de-lurking, lets talk about 'teh':

My understanding of 'teh' is that it was originally used as a way of making fun of people who type fast and can't be bothered to check the grammar. The obvious example would be hyper caffeinated teenage males, but they're certainly not the only ones to make the error.

As time passed somehow the word managed to escape the world of making fun of people and became common (at least on the net) to simply use the word as a replacement for 'the'. As to why this happened, I have no idea whatsofuckingever.
More info can be found on wikipedia if you wish to read further on this ever so fascinating issue:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teh

That was probably way more information then you ever needed to know, but now you'll never have to worry about it ever again.

I don't like the term lurker, it sounds creepy and stalkerish. I just usually don't have much to say. I love your blog though and never miss it.

Since you asked for info, my name is Elliot, I'm a 41 year old Canadian who works as an RCW (residential care worker) at a homeless shelter. I've been a comic fan since I was young though I stopped reading them as an adult for about a decade.
