Clarification: re: Misogyny
As an addendum/clarification of my point 3, I do think misogyny has to do with how you interact and view real women. Not fictional ones. In my own writing, I tend to cause great physical and psychological harm to male characters. Does this make me...whatever the opposite of a misogynist is? (Misoandrist? I should look that up. No one ever uses that term, I think).
Terry Goodkind is a misogynist. He told a female fan, in email correspondence, that she couldn't possibly understand all of the underlying meaning and symbolism in his Sword of Truth series because she was a woman.
Now I've never met Ron Marz, but in every interview and Q&A I've seen, he's been nice, polite, eloquent, and gave as much respect and attention to questions and comments from women as well as men.
So leave the poor guy alone. Sheesh. Don't like his work, don't read it, but please stop slandering some poor guy you've never met just because he put a female character in a damn refrigerator. Thank you.

Thank you for replying!
Personally I think where the "misogynist" complaint comes in is that we fans tend to get so attached to certain characters that we forget that they're not real. Thus when something bad happens to them, we get a knee jerk reaction. It might even, in a twisted way, be a compliment to Mr. Marz that he's managed to create a scene/character so striking as to become a symbol for a lot of people.
The accompanying insults, not so much though.
Samurai: Heaven and Earth? I haven't heard of it. I'll definitely check it out though, as it sounds right up my alley.
