EEE!

Eeee! The Howling Commandos will be in the Captain America movie!

That makes me so so happy. And honestly, I really hope they keep Samuel L. Jackson in the role. I might prefer the 616 version to the Ultimate version, but I like consistency more, and it'll be really interesting to see the Marvel Universe projection of WWII. It's GOING to be different from the real one in many ways, anyway, so let's play with it more.

...I really hope Pinky Pinkerton's in it. He's my favorite. He's so unexpectedly badass!

Someone emailed me in the last couple of days that Jackson said that he'd be in Captain America and he'd be the LEAD in the Avengers movie, but I didn't get a link with it, so I have no idea if it's true. I'm not going to go hunting because I'm sick of being spoiled for everything the second I hit any news site, but if you don't mind spoilers I'm sure you can find what my friend found.

Call me a heretic, but MY ideal solution would be to have a 616-white-guy Sgt. Fury leading the Howlers in Cap. Later, in Avengers, a thawed out says to Jackson, "I knew a Nick Fury in the war". Jackson, of course, responds, "Yeah, that was my granddad."

I do hope that Hugo Weaving plays the Red Skull, he'd be great. I can hear him now - "Miiister Rogers." (Sorry.)

YOS: That's one solution! :-) Gotta admit though, I'd rather just have it be Samuel L. Jackson all the way through.

For me a big core of the character is that he's the same guy. The longevity is important. Without it Nick's just...some slightly crazy bossy guy.

I prefer the 616 portrayal to Ultimates, but I'd rather have a steady one overall than switch them. :-)

Problem: Black guy in charge of WWII unit?

Ununnilium, In the real world, Gabe Jones wouldn't have been in the Howling Commandos at all. Integrated units didn't happen until later.

So you can go with historical accuracy and make the HC all black, or you can just stick with the "Marvel Universe is slightly quicker on the uptake than ours is" explanation.

I'm fine with the latter really.
