Seems Promising:

I'm really really excited about the Sinestro Corps.

One, because it's Sinestro, of course.

Two, because yellow rings are neat.

Most of all, I love that it's not just going to be in the main Green Lantern comic. I mean, Hal has every reason in the universe to hate Sinestro, of course. Especially now that Parallax is pinned nicely on his head too. But other characters have their own claims on his hide, I'd reckon.

I'm particularly interested in any Green Lantern Corps-related aftermath. Soranik and Guy both have really really strong reasons to hate Sinestro, what with the being Stalin/Hitler-esque dictator of Korugar or the torturing into a crazy moron stuff.

I'd really like to see some of that addressed, if only as a strange bonding moment between the two characters. The enemy of my enemy and all that. :-)

Kilowog is another character that should have a real mad-on against Sinestro. Didn't he bring back his planet...and then kill everybody again? That would piss ME off.

And yes, Guy should be particularly
pissed at Sinestro as well, what with the torture and brain damage and general...unpleasantness he suffered at Sinestro's hands.

I don't think that Kyle's going to be too happy with him either. Those "Alley Rat" remarks have to be getting pretty annoying by now. Not to mention that little detail about his mother.

Actually, Kyle may be the best secret weapon the GL has. All he has to do is kiss somebody, and they die. The possibilities are endless!

I want to see them Sinestro coming up with a EVIL lantern planet.

Like, give Warworld a gigantic yellow ring.

The Sinestro Corps seems like such a natural that I'm amazed it took fifty years for somebody to think of it.

I agree witn Hulkster. I can remember picking up a back issue of GL back when I was a wee Geek and being all thrilled because it had the "Anti-Green Lantern Corps" on the cover. Imagine my disappointment when the rings basically just shot out a nasty black beam and the weilders were Qwardians who had no personality at all.

Sinestro Corps though is an idea rife with possibilities, and I hope one that will be around for a while.

As to who has the biggest mad on for Sin, I'd say it's a toss up between Hal and Kyle. Hal of course because of being pushed into insanity, but for Kyle, if Sinestro had not acted then he never would have ended up with the last power ring, and Andrea would still be alive. And lets face it, Kyle may have made his peace with her death but I don't think he has ever truly gotten over her.

On a related note, while Abin Sur's nutjob son is not a terrible choice, how much sweeter would it have been seeing Kyle face off against Major Force with MF wielding a Sinestro ring.

BTW before I hop off the soap box, does anyone else out there think that the line "You have been chosen to represent sector (number)." Would sound a lot cooler if changed to, "You have been chosen to terrorize sector (number)"? Just a thought.

    Peace
    And
    Long
    Life

I've honestly never cared for Sinestro. Maybe I just haven't read the right comics, I've never gotten a feel for him. He's always come across as kind of like... Snidely Whiplash in SPAAAAAAAACE!!! A total mustache-twirler without motivation beyond being as eeeeeeevil as possible.

But Geoff Johns's description of him as "Darth Vader and the Emperor combined" makes me interested. And I do think this Sinestro Corps is a good direction for him.

Sinestro, to me, has the greatest Supervillain Hair in comics. There is no comparison. Just the composition of it, the mustache, the sneer, everything- it's perfect!

Emerald Dawn II was a great look into what makes him tick- he just doesn't get it. How DARE Korugar think he's a tyrant. Look what he's done for them! To him, order above all is the only end, and it justifies the means. Some of the greatest villains are like that.

I'm looking forward to the Soranik/Sinestro throwdown, because he's inadverdently helped to ruin her life. Did I mention I think she's a great character? Because she is.

Filby, I agree with you as far as Sinestro's original portrayal goes. My suggestion is that you look at his appearance in Emerald Dawn II. This is where we see a perfectionist control freak who cares more about "order" than about serving his sector. Because Hal was involved in his fall from Guardian grace Sinestro blames it all on him rather than accept responsibility for his mistakes and begins to go over the edge of madness in his search for revenge.

    "Snidely Whiplash in SPAAAAAAAACE!!! "

And that, gentle posters, is what I love about him.

I'm tired of modern villians that I should feel sorry for.

Of course, now I have to right a Hal Jordan/Dudley Do-Right Amalgam story now....

The whole Sinestro Corps concept won my heart with a single scene:

"Bruce Wayne of the Planet Earth: you have the ability to instill great fear."
