I'll check this out sometime. I hope Jaime isn't just used once, and forgotten. The idea of an Oliver/Jaime pairup is kinda sickening though- can you just imagine the things Ollie would do to pervert the poor kid without even trying?
When my boyfriend (who knows me well) e-mailed me about that, the corners of my mouth turned up quite unwillingly and I could not get the stupid grin off my face for at least an hour. Thankfully nobody at work noticed.
Oh, come on, Arstal. Ollie may have been able to turn Hal Jordan into a vacillating wimp who second-guessed himself constantly and stammered any time Ollie called him a Nazi, but this is Jaime Reyes.
He'd do just what he's done with every other more experienced hero who winds up in a mentorship role:
Learn all of the most positive lessons the guy has to teach, and surpass him.
I've always wanted Blue Beetle to get his own cartoon show b/c it seems to fit so perfectly! He has his own cast of characters, his own city, his own setting, and his own villains. :)
There could be overall arcs (involving the reach) while having fun self contained episodes as well :D
I think BB would be the perfect show for pre-teens and stuff :D
Holy crap, that's awesome! And god, I hope this means they're not gonna cancel his comic, 'cause that's one of the things I've been worried about...
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on Ollie without his beard. And that hat is just bizarre.
I sat up, clapped my flippers and barked like a seal for ten minutes.
ReplyDeleteWell...actually I didn't, but I would have LIKED to. Oh Jaime.
Thrilled beyond words.

ReplyDeleteYay! Blue Beetle! Weird, retro character design though!

This looks so awesome! Batman, retro-style Ollie, AND Jaime 'Amazing' Reyes?! I can't wait for this.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I love how Newsarama's negative comments all boil down to "Comics are Serious Business"; thank goodness I never got that memo.
I'm not gonna be happy until Jaime gets his own straight to dvd animated movie.
